****** The Prince Assasin ******
by TheBlackDragoon23
Summary
Jungkook looked around the glorious Palace. It was all just too much
to take in. Was the king really being generous to him and taking him
in like this? Jungkook knew the king ever since he was a little boy.
His father was the king's personal assasin , who was kept in secret
so that he could carry out personal killings for the king. His mother
had died when he was 8 years old and now that his father had passed,
the king decided to take him in. Jungkook has the training of his
father and is, under the order of the king, secretly practicing his
combat skills along with his mentor, Hoseok, outside of the kingdom.
He would be the king's new secret soldier, and in return he would be
known as the king's long lost son. He would be a prince. The secrecy
wasn't a problem, as well as the killings he would have to commit for
the King. The only problem was the king's son, Jimin. The true prince
who disliked Jungkook with a passion when his father named Jungkook
as the king's son. Jungkook suspected that it had something to do
with the crown, or maybe Jimin was suspicious of Jungkook from the
start. Jungkook has to be careful what he does and says around Jimin
in order to not be found out .
Getting along with him won't be easy.

One year ago...

The palace was way bigger than Jungkook had imagined. He slowly strolled the
halls, admiring the artistry that decorated the walls. There were beautiful
murals, plants and statues everywhere he looked. The food was amazing too. His
first meal at the palace consisted of every fine food he could think of. He
ended up eating until he could no longer stomach anything else. He stopped at
his bedroom door, and as he was about to enter, something small smacked him in
the back of his head.
He turned around to see Jimin standing at least ten feet from him with a
slingshot in his hand. He hadn't spoken to Jungkook during dinner. He didn't
even spare him a glance then. Now, he was staring at Jungkook intensely.
"Oops" He said, not an ounce of remorse in his voice as he walked toward the
black haired boy. Jungkook didn't know what to expect as the silver haired
prince neared him. He already knew Jimin disliked him, but to what extent was
he willing to express his distaste for him? Jungkook would rather not think of
killing the prince if he had to. Jungkook decided to shake the thought out of
his mind and watched Jimin intently as the boy gracefully yet casually strolled
toward him until they were face to face.
"I'm guessing your hand just slipped" said Jungkook sarcastically, hand still
rubbing the hurt spot on the back of his head. Jimin forced a smile before
bending down to pick up whatever it was he used to hit Jungkook with. He held
it up and Jungkook noticed that it was a ball of chocolate wrapped in golden
foil. Jimin didn't answer him. His eyes were focused on the wrapper as he
carefully peeled it off, exposing the chocolate before looking back at
Jungkook.
"You should be more careful. What if it was an arrow being shot at the back of
your head, and not a piece of chocolate?"
Jimin's expression turned cold and Jungkook was lost for words. Taking slight
pleasure in the shock on Jungkook's face, Jimin spoke again." I don't know how
you managed to weasel your way into my family, but I warn that it is best you
take care of yourself. Many things happen inside the palace walls." Jungkook
stood there and watched Jimin as he then popped the piece of chocolate in his
mouth and stuck the golden foil in Jungkook's suit pocket on his chest, patting
the pocket twice before walking off.
Jungkook could not believe what just took place. Did the prince just threaten
his life? He ended up standing in the hall outside of his bedroom for what felt
like hours before taking out the foil from his pocket. The word 'fraud' neatly
scribbled on the inside of the wrapper.
That night, Jungkook slept uneasy. There were two things he knew about Jimin so
far. One, he knew that Jimin didn't just dislike Jungkook, he hated him. The
second thing he knew was that the prince was suspicious of him and that he was
bent on exposing him. Jungkook decided then that he would make it his mission
to make his role as 'prince' more convincing and that, not today, not tomorrow,
but someday he would get on Jimin's good side. He was hopeful that someday
Jimin would be not only able to accept him as the second prince, but as a
brother as well.
Chapter End Notes
Yeah, so this was pretty short. I edited this quite a few times until
I was satisfied lol. I hope you guys enjoyed this. I am making it my
mission to write more often, so expect another chapter soon.

"My Prince"
Jungkook snapped his head up from the book he was reading to look at the maid
as she entered the library.
"Yes?" he asked, curious as to what needed his attention.
"The king wishes to see you my prince." Jungkook slowly closed his book before
setting it back on the shelf.
"Thank you, please tell the king that I am on my way." The servant girl bowed
before leaving the room. Jungkook quickly made his way to the king's room, the
guards bowing to him before he entered. The king was looking out of the window
when he walked in. He turned around to face Jungkook before walking past him to
send the guards away from his door. When the king closed the bedroom doors, he
then walked back over to the window.
"My king" said Jungkook, kneeling down with his arm over his chest. The king
laughed a bit before facing Jungkook once more. "You understand that you don't
have to do that with me right? Will you ever call me 'father' boy?" When
Jungkook didn't answer, the king simply nodded. "I understand. You loved your
father. I will not try to replace him, but it would be best if you were to at
address me as your father in the public eye. It would also help if you weren't
so tense around me either. People notice."
Jungkook stayed silent, keeping his gaze to the floor. The king walked over to
him and put a hand on his shoulder. "We've been through this before Jungkook.
As long as you are living in my home you are my son, and you do not need to
give me the greetings of a servant. You have done well so far adapting to the
royal lifestyle. However, there are some residents within the palace who still
do not take well to you and question your title as prince." He gestures for
Jungkook to stand and he does so. "You must work harder to convince them that
you are indeed son of the king." It was then that Jungkook looked at the king
to see that his expression had saddened. "However, I know there are some who
may still not be swayed no matter how convincing you are." Immediately Jungkook
thought of the queen, who always seemed to have a bitter attitude toward him.
And then there was Jimin who, Jungkook believed, wanted him dead. There were
also a few royals in the council who were not very happy with Jungkook's sudden
appearance a year ago when he was named the second son to the King. The King
let out a sigh before walking over to sit on the edge of his bed.
"My wife.." He begins. "There is no doubt that she does not see you as a
prince and may very well have hatred toward you.' Jungkook knew this. The queen
barely spoke to him and would give him angry looks every now and then. The King
continued to speak. "And Jimin...he takes after his mother in a lot of ways."
He sure does Jungkook thought. Both Jimin and the queen dealt with things in a
very passive and indirect ways. A lot of times Jimin would find ways to shame
Jungkook in front of his peers in the palace either by spreading certain rumors
or by "accidentally" bumping into him a lot while walking about the palace. The
queen took delight in her son bullying Jungkook because she would always give a
small smile whenever Jimin saw fit to make Jungkook's life in the palace a
little more challenging each day. It was the kind of smile no regular person
would have been able to notice. Jungkook on the other hand was trained to pick
up on such things as subtle as that. It was the 101 on knowing your friend from
foe.
"I'm sure they did not help to make your role as a prince any easier" The king
said. "And although I have made sure they never harmed you when I'm around, I'm
sure they have tried to find ways to harm you behind my back." Jungkook was
never the type to feel emotional but somehow he began to feel sadness build up
inside of him. "It is my greatest fear that both my wife and son may turn
against me for the throne, and they see you as a threat against doing so."
"What are you asking of me?" Jungkook was trying to fight back the tears that
wanted to come. He wasn't prepared to hear what his benevolent king was about
to say. Ever since his father died, Jungkook looked at the king as a father
figure, even though he had a hard time admitting it. The king simply smiled at
him, eyes filled with sadness. "I'm saying that one day I may die, and not by
the hand of my enemies, but by my own blood. I have tried my best to be a good
father to Jimin, and a good husband to my wife, but It seems as though it isn't
good enough." Tears began to roll down Jungkook's eyes. "I think that my wife
and son have been poisoned by hatred for your being named prince, and toward me
for protecting you. I'll admit that I may have also been hard on Jimin at times
when he was young. He is very distant with me now and so is his mother."
Jungkook was trying to process everything the king was saying, but he could not
help but to feel sad.
He's literally telling me that he's going to die he thought, trying to
uselessly fight back anymore tears.
"My...King" Was all he managed to say between sobs. The king put his hand firm
on Jungkook's shoulder as he looked into the boy's eyes. Jungkook looked back
into the blue orbs begging for his full attention. "Jungkook" The king began to
speak. "I called you here to ask you for a very important favor." He could
already feel what the king was asking him to do and it was something Jungkook
didn't think he could fall through with. "My wife and my son... Though they may
have lost love for me, my love for them will never cease. So when the time
comes, and they see fit to be rid of me..."
 No! No! No!
Jungkook wished he couldn't hear the next words that came out of the kings
mouth.

"Please, do not kill them. "

A few days had passed and Jungkook still couldn't process what he and the king
had discussed before.
It was hard for him to look at the king, much less be around him without
thinking about the possibility of him being murdered...by his own family.
It was hard for him to keep calm. It was even harder to do so when he was
around the queen, or Jimin.
He hated having to pretend that he wasn't aware of their intentions. Jungkook
would rather have Jimin continue to try and assassinate him for the rest of his
life then to kill his own father.
Jungkook loved the king. Even though he could never replace his actual father,
The king was the closest thing to family besides Hoseok, who was like an older
brother to him. He felt suffocated whenever he'd stay in the palace too long.
He needed to get away to clear his head, so that's what he decided to do. As
soon as the sun went down Jungkook made his way down one of the halls. As he
was nearing the end of the hall, he saw Jimin come around the corner to walk in
the opposite direction. They both looked at each other and it felt like time had
stopped, just like any other time Jungkook encountered Jimin, but this time
Jungkook didn't tuck his feelings away.He let all of his anger speak through
his eyes when they were about to cross paths. Jimin gave him his usual high and
mighty stare but then suddenly seemed surprised by Jungkook's expression. It
wasn't like all of the other times when he'd seemed to be annoyed by Jimin's
attempts to belittle him. This time was different. This time his eyes were far
too serious for Jimin's comfort. He looked like a bringer of death, ready to
take his life at any moment. When they finally walked past each other, Jimin
stopped to turn around and look at the young reaper, who seemed to be walking a
bit faster than usual as he continued down the hall. Jungkook was boiling with
anger. He clenched his fists as he grabbed a cloak and hastily made his way out
of the palace entrance and through the garden. A few guards looked at him with
concern. If they knew what was good for them, they wouldn't try to stop him
from leaving, and they didn't. Once he reached the town he was speed walking
past the many of the common folk, thoughts of taking the prince's life well on
his mind. He then remembered the words of the king. "My wife and my son...I
want you to not kill them." He kept hearing those words in his head until he
was well away from the kingdom. "How can I not?" He asked himself out loud as
he made his way down a hill.
After some more walking, he found himself sitting by a large pond surrounded by
trees. He laid on the grass by the pond, closing his eyes as he tried to think
his negative thoughts away until he heard the sounds of people walking in the
near distance. His eyes snapped open and he got up fast, his body reacting
before
his brain could fully process anything. He quickly moved behind a large bolder
that was a bit farther from the pond. It was unusual for anyone with good
intention
to find themselves outside the kingdom at night, He himself shouldn't even be
outside of the kingdom at such a late hour. He told himself that he was ready
to kill if
he had to. Still hiding behind the giant rock, he saw two hooded figures
walking toward each other to meet by the pond. Thankfully, The bolder Jungkook
was hiding
behind was close enough to see them and hear their conversation. "It will be
tomorrow night." Jungkook realized that the hooded person that spoke was a
woman. He continued to listen. "I have given you all the information you needed
before on the infiltration. Are you sure that you can accomplish the task?" The
other hooded figure laughed. It was a sound that was very low and sent light
chills up Jungkook's spine. He voice sounded rather intense when he spoke.
"What's wrong with you all of a sudden? If the info you gave me before is right
then we have nothing to worry about. I feel rather disrespected by your sudden
lack of trust in me, considering how much you're willing to pay for my
services." Jungkook was hoping that the man would remove his hood so he could
see the face behind the rather deadly voice, but he kept on speaking instead.
"You know what I can do, and you know that I'm damn good at it." There was a
silence between the two of them before the woman spoke again, her voice was a
bit shaky now. Jungkook believed the woman may have
been a bit scared of whoever she was speaking with. He couldn't blame her. "I
know full well that you are capable of carrying out what you are hired for. I'd
expect nothing less from a Black Raven." Jungkook froze. It's been so long
since he's heard that name. When he was a boy he'd hear his father and the king
talk about them. They were mercenary assassins who killed for money. They were
very ruthless with their killings. He used to hear rumors of how the those of
the Black Raven were like beasts of the night who bathed in the blood of their
victims. They didn't kill bad people like noble assassins would. The Black
Raven would kill men, women and children, not caring if they were innocent or
not. They didn't care about rank nor did they fear death. They didn't have a
conscience. In Jungkook's opinion, The Black Raven were cold blooded murderers.
"He is rather perceptive and very sharp. I've noticed these things. He makes me
rather uneasy." Jungkook still couldn't believe a murder was being planned
right before his eyes.
"You will stay in a room of your choosing within the Lanken area of town. Take
the routes I have instructed and you should have no problem moving around and
getting inside undetected. Everything else after that is in the information I
gave you before." Jungkook was wondering who this person was trying to kill so
desperately that she would hire a Black Raven to do so. The cloaked woman then
handed the hooded man a rather large bag filled with coin. She then removed her
hood and the color drained from Jungkook's face. The hooded man weighed the bag
in his hands before speaking .
"Well, it seems like everything is in proper order then." both of them shook
hands, a union of death under the moonlight.

It's nice doing business with you your highness."
Chapter End Notes
So was it really a surprise that it was the queen?
Who could she possibly want to have killed? lol
Its been a while, again (but at least it wasn't six months).
The semester is finally over for me and I can now focus more on the
things I hold dear, one of them being writing.
Once again, I thank you guys for enjoying this story so far. I intend
to keep serving you the goods, and even some top notch meals as we
progress through this story together. Fortunately for all of us, I
actually have the next chapter pretty much mapped out so it shouldn't
be long before I post another chapter. To be honest, I was going to
add events of the next chapter with this one, but I like cliffhangers
     so...
